CHALLENGES FACED: With the sudden need for staff to work from home during lockdown, existing equipment posed a challenge for performance and reliability. Additionally data costs needed to remain cost-effective due to issuing some staff with LTE routers.
SOLUTION PROPOSED: A recent upgrade of NDE’s existing Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment had been completed to Server 2016 and Long-Term Service Release 7.15. Staff were sent home and were able to connect to the internet as if they were in the office. They entered a full desktop experience connected securely through Citrix Gateway.
RESULTS: Costs have remained extremely low due to staff conducting all their work requirements within the virtual desktop environment only.
Management have even seen an increase in productivity with all staff working remotely.
